Drew Ernst “ACE” attended the oldest art museum and school in the United States, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. There he studied under accomplished artists such as Sidney Goodman, Peter Paone, and Bo Bartlett. To learn the intricacies of the human form, Ernst also spent time drawing cadavers at the Hannaman Medical School in Philadelphia. Despite having a background in classical painting, Ernst has spent many
years exploring expressive abstract work.

Commenting on his own creative process, Ernst states that like the resulting work, it is a complex thing, “contradictory, containing both positive and negative energy that takes him on a strange journey, both inspiring and exciting, through the human psyche." He experiences each new idea for a painting as both a sort of meditation-like process and an obsession. Said Ernst, "our minds take us to strange places."
